History of Islamic Society of Gastonia

 

In the late 70's there were only about five Muslim Families in Gaston County.  Friday prayers, Eid prayers and Taraweeh prayers were held in one of our brother's living room.  In 1981 the land was bought and The Islamic Society of Gastonia was established. The Muslim Cemetery started in 1985, and in 1995 our Masjid was built.  The part time Islamic school started in 1997 to serve and deliver an Islamic system of education based on the Qur'an and the Sunnah.  There are now more than fifty Muslim families in the Gaston County.
